Wellan Montessori School
Ryan Burden (PhD) is an experienced educator specializing in English language and literature. Currently serving as a Middle School Humanities Teacher at Wellan Montessori School since June 2023, Ryan previously taught Upper Elementary English Language Arts at Milwaukee Montessori School from May 2021 to May 2023. Academic experience includes a role as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee from August 2016 to May 2021 and as an Adjunct Lecturer at Paul Smith's College from August 2014 to 2016. Additional editorial experience was gained as the Managing/Fiction Editor at Four Way Review from May 2013 to 2018. Prior to transitioning into education, Ryan worked as an IA Analyst at Honeywell from August 2007 to August 2014. Educational credentials include a PhD in English Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, an MFA in Fiction from Warren Wilson College, and a BA in English Language and Literature from Kenyon College.

Wellan Montessori School (formerly Newton Montessori School) is an independent, coeducational school serving more than 175 families and 250 children ages 15 months through grade 8.
