Ben Harrison is an adviser at the Wellcome Trust, where they focus on directed activities. Prior to their current position, Ben was a senior policy officer at MS Society from January 2019 to November 2019. In this role, they were the policy lead for new treatments, including medicinal cannabis and medicine re-purposing. Ben also responded to government and Parliamentary consultation responses on all issues related to treatment policy. Furthermore, they led engagement with the National Institute for Care Excellence (NICE) on its appraisals for treatments, including siponimod for active secondary progressive MS.
Before their time at MS Society, Ben worked as an assistant researcher at The RSA from September 2015 to January 2019. At The RSA, they provided research and policy analysis for the RSA's health programme. Ben is the author of "Listening to Young People Online: Mental Health and Social Media" and the co-author of several other research reports.
Ben's work experience also includes a welfare officer position at Sheffield Students' Union from June 2014 to July 2015, as well as a project volunteer position at VSO from June 2013 to September 2013.
Ben Harrison's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Sociology from The University of Sheffield, as well as a Politics and Sociology BA from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen.
