Pete Gardner

Pete Gardner is a seasoned professional in the field of immunology and infectious diseases, currently serving as the Research Lead for Antibodies & Immunity at Wellcome Trust since February 2018. In this role, Pete leads the strategy and delivery of global health investments in antibodies, focusing on vaccine research and discovery for cholera, salmonella, and tuberculosis. Previous roles at Wellcome include Innovations Associate and Science Portfolio Advisor, where Pete managed significant funding portfolios and partnerships in vaccine and infectious disease development. Additionally, Pete holds a fellowship at the Royal Society of Biology and has experience as an Honorary Lecturer at City, University of London. Past research positions include Senior Research Associate at UCL, investigating diabetic retinopathy, and various research associate roles emphasizing ocular inflammatory diseases and immune responses to malaria. Pete earned a Ph.D. in Immunology from UCL and a B.Sc. in Biology from Imperial College London.
