Shaakir Salam

Shaakir Salam is a seasoned research manager currently employed at Wellcome Trust since November 2021, focusing on enhancing scientific progress through relationship management and embedding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within major initiatives. Prior to this role, Shaakir served as Director of NeuroArt, pairing neuroscientific researchers with neurodivergent artists to reshape perceptions of conditions like Autism and ADHD. Shaakir's experience includes campaign management at The Lost Voices, investigating drug effects on neurodegenerative diseases during a postdoctoral tenure at King's College London, and fulfilling various teaching and research roles throughout academic training across several prestigious institutions. Educational accomplishments include a PhD in Neuroscience from King's College London, an MRes in Integrative Neuroscience from The University of Edinburgh, and a BSc in Neuroscience from the University of Glasgow.
