The Role
Are you an experienced Telecoms Engineer looking to move from cab splicing to 100% fibre splicing with guaranteed no copper work?
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Network Engineering Team carrying out fibre splicing across our network. Covering both new build and existing areas of network, you will work from splice maps to complete your work.
Our Fibre Splicing Engineers regularly splice the large backbone of the network up to 288 core cables. Using various splicing enclosures, they will be expected to carry out between 150 to 200 splices a day. Our Splicing Engineers mainly work on the rural network but also in towns on the Openreach network. The ideal candidate for this role will be adept at splicing and testing fibre networks, be comfortable travelling to sites across Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire and happy working as part of a close team where there is an on-call requirement (1 week in 6).
Responsibilities
Splicing at new and existing splice enclosures
Working with surveying team to prioritise workload
Carry out emergency and scheduled maintenance/upgrades across the Wessex Internet fibre network
Diagnosing and restoring service issues within the network to maintain customer connections when equipment is damaged
Provide ‘out of hours’ cover on a rota basis during evenings and weekends
Working individually and as part of a team to achieve KPI’s and company targets
Adherence to all Health & Safety legislation
Accessing and working in rural areas to splice fibre

Salary: £32,000 - £36,750 per annum, depending on experience
Role Type: Full Time/Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, plus overtime. Weekend and evening cover will be required on a rota basis (1 week in 6)
Location: Field based near Blandford Forum, Dorset
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
