Head Of Waste Strategy at Wessex Water

Karen Cox has a diverse work experience in the water and wastewater industry. Karen currently works at Wessex Water, where they have held various roles since 2016. Karen'smost recent position is the Head of Waste Strategy, a role they started in June 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Investment Management from July 2019 to August 2023, responsible for coordinating the capital investment program and managing annual budgets. Karen also worked as a Strategic Planning Engineer at Wessex Water from April 2016 to July 2019, where they oversaw the development of bioresources and strategic capital maintenance plans.

Before joining Wessex Water, Karen worked at Inside Infrastructure as an Operations Engineer from September 2013 to August 2015. In this role, they developed asset management plans and strategic wastewater plans for a regional township. Prior to that, they worked at Allwater as a Site Process Engineer from July 2011 to September 2013, focusing on process reviews and optimization of wastewater and recycled water treatment plants.

Karen's early career includes a tenure at Veolia Australia and New Zealand as a Civil Engineer from December 2008 to June 2011. During this time, they gained experience in both design and operational aspects of wastewater treatment. Karen held various positions within Veolia, including a full-time graduate engineer in the Operations Group and Design Group.

Karen Cox attended the University of Adelaide from 2004 to 2009, where they earned a Bachelor of Civil and Structural Engineering (Honours) degree in the field of Civil Engineering. Karen also received a Bachelor of Finance degree, although the specific field of study for this degree is unknown.
