Karen Schneiders is the Director of Planning at West Central Indiana Economic Development District. Karen has over 20 years of experience in the transportation planning field.
Karen started their career as a Transportation Planner with the Arizona Department of Transportation in May 2004. In this role, they were responsible for developing long-range transportation plans and coordinating projects. Karen also provided customer service for citizens, other agency staff and elected officials.
In January 2005, they took on the role of Planning Specialist II with the City of Fort Collins. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing short and long-range transportation plans. Karen also coordinated projects, regulated project financial documentation and provided customer service for citizens, other agency staff and elected officials.
In July 2007, they became a Regional Transportation Planner with the Colorado Department of Transportation. In this role, they were responsible for developing and implementing short and long-range transportation plans. Karen also coordinated projects, regulated project financial documentation and provided customer service for citizens, other agency staff and elected officials.
In May 2016, they became the Local Agency Planning & Environmental Manager with the Colorado Department of Transportation. In this role, they manage a team of 3 professionals that address critical transportation planning and NEPA issues. Karen also coordinates long range transportation planning for 13 county region, including two metropolitan planning organizations, regulates project financial documentation and administers the Transportation Alternatives funding program process from cradle to grave.
In June
Karen Schneiders has a Bachelors of Science in Leadership & Organizational Studies, Public & Non-Profit Administration, and Recreation Administration from Colorado State University Global. Karen also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Urban Regional Studies from Indiana State University. In addition, they are certified as a Professional Transportation Planner from the Transportation Professional Certification Board- Institute of Transportation Engineers.
Karen Schneiders reports to Ryan Keller, Executive Director. They are on a team with Dana McLain - Controller, Gabriel Cheek - Director of IT, and Tiona Broadnax - Associate Director of ADRC.
