Berrin Ergun-Longmire

Berrin Ergun-Longmire has extensive experience in the field of pediatric endocrinology. Berrin'smost recent role was as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine starting in January 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Chief and Founder of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Sacred Heart Hospital, The University of Florida from February 2018 to January 2020. Berrin successfully established and expanded the division during their time there. Berrin also served as the Director of the Center for Diabetes and Pediatric Endocrinology at Akron Children's Hospital in 2016, and as the Chief of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Toledo from 2015 to 2016. Before these roles, they held positions at The Herman and Walter Samuelson Children's Hospital at S and Akron Children's Hospital. Berrin began their career as an Attending Physician at Akron Children's Hospital in 2009 and also worked at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Berrin Ergun-Longmire pursued their education and training in the medical field. Berrin completed their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from Istanbul University between 1983 and 1989. Later, they participated in the Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship Program at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center from 2002 to 2005. In 1997 to 1998, Berrin Ergun-Longmire served as a Research Fellow at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital - Weill Cornell Medical Center, specifically in the Center for Reproductive Medicine.

Additionally, Berrin Ergun-Longmire obtained certifications to further enhance their professional expertise. In 2020, they achieved a certification in Human Subjects and HIPAA Research from the CITI Program, a division of BRANY. In 2021, they acquired the GCP for Clinical Trials with Investigational Drugs and Medical Devices (U.S. FDA Focus) certification from the CITI Program.
