Brenda Eaton

Brenda Eaton is an experienced corporate director, serving on the Boards of a number of private, public, not-for-profit and crown corporation Boards.

In addition to being Chair of Westland Insurance, Ms. Eaton is Chair of BC Ferries and the Max Bell Foundation, and sits on the Boards of LifeLabs and RBC’s Global Asset Management Independent Review Committee. She is also a Trustee for the Killam Trusts. In prior years, she chaired Chile’s longest electricity transmission company, Transelec, and served on the Board of BC Hydro.

Before becoming a corporate director, Ms. Eaton was a senior leader in the BC Government, and served as Deputy Minister to the Premier and Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury Board; Energy and Mines; and Social Services. For several years she was Chief Financial Officer and Head of Operations for a regional Health Authority.

Certified by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D), Ms. Eaton has been recognized with several awards, including the Queen’s Jubilee Award for community contribution, University of Victoria’s Distinguished Alumni and WXN’s 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada.

Ms. Eaton is based in Victoria and is passionate in her support for non-profit organizations, currently serving as a juror for the Donner prize and on the Boards of the Canadian Red Cross, the Vancouver Foundation and the BC Alzheimer’s Society.

Ms. Eaton holds a master’s degree in Economics.
