Frank Waggoner

Frank Waggoner has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Frank started their career as a Summer Camp Counselor at the University of Chicago Laboratory School in 2012. In 2013, they worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology at the University of Chicago, where they conducted an independent research project under Dr. Michael Glotzer. The following year, they served as an Assistant Teacher at the University of Chicago.

In 2014, Frank worked as a Research Assistant and Technician in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago. Frank developed computer vision programs and algorithms to aid radiologists in the identification and classification of tumors on mammograms. In 2016, they became an Assistant Researcher at HEMI (Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute) at Johns Hopkins University, working on projects related to materials under extreme conditions.

In 2017, Frank interned at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, where they developed and improved a user interface for a post-simulation platform used by the US Navy to visualize threat paths and battleship operating areas. The following year, they worked as a Lead Mathematics and Engineering Teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools, teaching algebra and mechanical engineering electives and developing curriculum and hands-on projects.

Frank then transitioned to the engineering field, starting as an Engineer II at The Fulcrum Group in 2019. Frank reviewed design and construction documents for compliance with commissioning requirements and later became a Project Engineer, completing commissioning jobs and energy studies for various clients.

In 2023, Frank joined Westwood Professional Services as an Electrical Engineering Intern. Frank designed solar and battery energy storage projects, conducted arc flash and load flow studies, and built power system models.
