Millicent Maier

Millicent Maier has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Millicent is currently the Head of Department Research Lab/Research Programme Manager at Weta Digital, where they manage a team of researchers and engineers conducting cutting-edge research in graphics. Millicent also oversees the operational aspects of research teams and projects. Prior to this role, they worked as a Research Programme Manager and Senior Project Manager at Weta Digital.

Before joining Weta Digital, Millicent worked as a Senior Content Designer at Atlassian, a Project Manager at Macquarie University, and as an Astronomer and Educator at Sydney Observatory. Millicent also had experience as a Scientist at CubeRider and as a Super Science Fellow at Anglo-Australian Observatory.

Millicent's earlier experience includes working as a Gemini Science Fellow at Gemini Observatory, where they specialized in the GMOS-2 slit Integral Field Unit and spent significant time on the observing roster.

Millicent Maier completed their high school education at The Hackley School from 1991 to 2001. Millicent then attended the University of Oxford from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Astrophysics. In 2020, Millicent Maier also obtained a certification in the Oxford Leading Strategic Projects Programme from the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
