About the role:

We are seeking a passionate and innovative Content Director to join our dynamic creative team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with the creative team Heads and a Creative Director to strategize, conceptualize, and oversee the execution of our global video and design initiatives. Your leadership will extend to managing a team of video producers and designers, ensuring that all creative work not only meets high standards of excellence but also aligns with Whalar Group's strategic objectives.

As Content Director, you will be responsible for developing compelling motion, visual, and messaging content for a variety of formats, including presentations, proposals, marketing plans, and social media. You should possess a strong grasp of cultural and social media trends, particularly those relevant to brands and Gen Z, which will inform your creative direction. You will lead the charge in executing fresh, innovative concepts that enhance overall strategies while providing proactive solutions to challenges faced by creative teams. Your ability to communicate effectively and positively contribute to the creative process will foster an inspiring work environment.

Ultimately, your role will be to capture and reflect the essence of our clients' brands, visions, and messaging in every creative output. Staying abreast of emerging trends and technologies will enable you to implement best practices in both digital and traditional marketing. Here’s what you’ll do day to day:

  • Develop consistently superior motion, visual, and messaging content to support Whalar Group’s objectives for presentations, proposals, marketing plans, social content, and a variety of other formats and mediums
  • Assist the Heads of the creative team in developing strategies and evaluating team performance.
  • Show leadership in executing fresh, innovative concepts that enhance strategies 
  • Operate a wide range of assignments including, but not limited to, logging and capturing footage, cutting highlight packages, and short and long features.
  • Produce videos that showcase Whalar’s campaigns, marketing initiatives, awards submissions, social media content, and special projects.
  • Edit and create engaging video content across multiple platforms, incorporating animation, sound, and graphics.
  • Help creative teams overcome obstacles and offer innovative solutions
  • Guide teams through creative conception, execution, and delivery following departmental processes and ensure projects are delivered on time
  • Responsible for current knowledge and understanding of emerging trends and technologies and the ability to institute best practices for digital and traditional marketing products
  • Consistently capture the essence, message, brand, vision, and vibe in creative design or other creative elements as dictated by the client or other stakeholders
  • Mentor and motivate teams to achieve their full potential, establishing a reputation for effective problem-solving.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 6-8 years of experience in branding, B2B development, content, video, and design producing multiplatform and social content that cuts above the noise
  • 4+ years experience with people and project management
  • Fluency in social media platforms and their unique dynamics, including knowledge of user behaviors, platform features, and best practices
  • Strong corporate identity and branding experience and demonstrated work with larger brands
  • A creative thinker, comfortable creating content with a high, almost obsessive attention to detail.
  • Superior strategic thinking and creative skills (written, visual, and conceptual)
  • Understanding of typography, color theory, and current content, design, and advertising trends
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to multitask, handle tight deadlines, and be adaptable and flexible to changes in priorities
  • Expert knowledge in Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, Adobe Creative Suite, Frame.io and experience with Google Docs, Sheets, Slides
  • Videography skills - you may be asked to capture footage on site from time to time

This hybrid role, based in Hudson Yards, NY, offers flexibility and collaboration, allowing you to choose any three days a week to work from our vibrant office. The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 and serves as a general guideline reflecting the potential compensation for the role. The final salary offer will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of factors such as the candidate's experience, expertise, alignment with the position's requirements, and, ultimately budget approvals.
