Mary B. O'Connor has an extensive work experience history in various roles and industries. Mary B. started their career as a Teacher/Coach at the Archdiocese of New York in 1996, where they taught math and coached the varsity girls basketball team. From there, they moved on to work at General Motors Corporation as a Manager from 1999 to 2004. In 2004, they became the Director at Carat Sponsorship Solutions for a year. Following that, they joined The Marketing Arm in 2005 and held two roles: SVP of Sports and SVP of Olympic Marketing, Global Platforms & Hospitality. During their time at The Marketing Arm, they drove consistent revenue growth for the agency and led various marketing initiatives for clients like AT&T, Hilton Worldwide, J&J, and BP. In 2016, they became the President & CEO of the Dallas Wings, where they oversaw the front office and implemented changes to improve the organization's financial structure and compliance. In 2017, they founded their own marketing consultancy, O'Connor & Advisors, LLC, which focuses on delivering strategic solutions for brands and start-ups with an emphasis on sponsorships. Additionally, they worked as an Adjunct Faculty at SMU Sport Management starting in 2018. Most recently, they have held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at both The Parvin Group and White Rhino Coffee since 2019.

Mary B. O'Connor began their education at Ionia High School, where they completed their secondary education from 1988 to 1992. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Notre Dame and earned their Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Management Information Systems. Their undergraduate studies took place between 1992 and 1996.

Mary B. then pursued their higher education at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, specializing in Sports and Entertainment Marketing. Mary B. obtained their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Indiana University, graduating in 1999, with their studies spanning from 1997 to 1999.
