Position: Global People & Culture Generalist
Department: People & Culture

Shift: Full time, 40 hours a week
Location: Richmond, B.C
Reports to: Senior Manager, Global People & Culture

Purpose:

This position requires a self-starter with proven success working within a growing company. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a hands-on approach, the successful incumbent will support the day-to-day People & Culture operations to our headquarters in Richmond, BC, and remotely to the international offices. Flexibility in working hours will be required to cater to the regional needs. This is a hybrid role and has no direct reports.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Functional groups to provide strong support and guidance on employee relations, global talent acquisition & retention, performance management, compensation/total rewards, employee development, succession planning, etc.

  • Support hiring managers to manage the end-to-end recruitment process for identified positions.

  • Stay up-to-date with all employment legislation and regulations in Canada and provide expertise on best practices on human resources and talent management.

  • Collaborate closely with Payroll and Accounting to manage benefits, sales agreements, international office employees and tax compliance.

  • Establish effective working relationships and business partnerships based on trust, experience and credibility with all internal customer to respond to HR related concerns, questions or requests.

  • Update or contribute to the creation of role profiles to meet the needs of the business and workforce plan.

  • Recommend retention strategies to minimize attrition, particularly focused on top talent in a dynamic market.

  • Support the HR department’s Strategy through involvement with training, program and policy development initiatives.

  • Ensure that internal customers’ needs, expectations and requirements are voiced and considered in the development of Company programs and processes.

  • Conduct orientation and initiate the onboarding process; collaborate with HR and business leaders to prepare or revise the onboarding processes for multiple global locations.

  • Regularly update the HRIS with employee information and documentation.

  • Initiate offboarding process, assist in the termination process as needed and perform exit interviews.

  • Conduct surveys, collect employee feedback and generate ad hoc HR reports.

  • Support cross-functional teams and committees such as Health and Safety Committee, Social Committee, as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in a Human Resources Generalist role.

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources or equivalent education and experience.

  • CPHR or working towards a designation is an asset.

  • Experience with HRIS systems preferably BambooHR or similar program is considered an asset.

  • Up-to-date knowledge of Canadian and BC Employment Standards, human rights legislations, WorkSafe BC regulations, and Human Resources best practices.

  • Strongly preferred: global mobility experience with multiple country employment laws, cultural norms, benefits and immigration laws. Specific experience with the following countries is preferred: Canada, United States, Germany, United Arab Emirates, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and India.

Competencies, Skills and Abilities:

  • The successful candidate must be customer service focused with a proven track record in human resources, recruiting, employee relations and relationship management.

  • Advanced computer skills; proficient MS Office and Excel; knowledge of SharePoint is an asset.

  • In depth knowledge of HR best practices and being able to adapt them to different situations.

  • Action oriented approach - if you don't know something, you seek to find it out.

  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively within the HR team and the organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work with judgment, discretion and confidentiality.

  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Occupational Health and Safety Regulation knowledge an asset.

  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
