Peter Sonnega

Wild Animal Keeper at Wildlife Conservation Society

Peter Sonnega currently serves as a Wild Animal Keeper at the Wildlife Conservation Society since October 2023. Previously, Peter gained valuable experience through various roles including a Wildlife Veterinary Care Intern at New England Wildlife Center, where responsibilities included admitting and treating wildlife patients, and an Animal Care Intern at Topeka Zoo, assisting with animal care and enrichment. Peter's background also includes research work on piping plovers as a Research Technician at Virginia Tech, and multiple research assistant positions at the University of Michigan. Peter holds a Master of Science in Conservation Medicine from Tufts University and a Bachelor of Science in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan, complemented by a minor in Sociology of Health and Medicine.
