Joann Scales

Joann Scales has a diverse and extensive work experience. Joann started their career in 2007 as a Research Fellow at Wright Patterson Air Force. Joann then worked as a Science Fellow at Goodlettsville Middle School and as a Long-term Sub - Physics Teacher at Edna Karr Senior High School in 2009. In 2012, they became the Lead Instructor at Shorter College.

Joann joined Arkansas Baptist College in 2010 and held multiple roles such as Professor of Mathematics & Science, Program Manager, Director of Student Activities, and Mathematics Faculty. Joann also worked as a Para-educator/Academic Interventionist at a Charter School Organization from 2015 to 2019. In 2016, they served as a QEP STEM Consultant at Grambling State University and as a Director of Education (Consultant) at Rockwall Programs.

In 2022, Joann held the position of Dean, School of Education and Sciences at Wiley University. Joann has also been appointed as the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Strategic Retention starting in April 2023.

Additionally, Joann has owned Academic Excellence & Enhancement (AEE) since 2005.

Joann Scales obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a minor in Mathematics from Grambling State University in 2004. Joann then pursued a Master of Science in Physics at Fisk University from 2005 to 2007. Joann furthered their education by completing an IGERT program in Materials Science and Engineering at Vanderbilt University from 2007 to 2009. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Northcentral University between 2012 and 2016.
