Marketing Specialist

Position: Marketing Specialist

Reports to: Director of Marketing and Events

Status: Hourly Full-time, Non-Exempt $20 - $24/Hour, depending on experience

Location: Hybrid - While we offer a hybrid schedule, in-person collaboration is important to us! Our team works from the Eugene Chamber Office at least 3 days a week (Tuesday–Thursday) and as needed for events and meetings.

Position Overview:

Are you an innovative marketer who loves connecting with people, crafting compelling stories, and making a real impact? As our Marketing Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the Chamber’s presence and driving initiatives that strengthen our local business community.

In this dynamic position, you’ll collaborate closely with the Director of Marketing and Events to design and execute creative marketing and sales campaigns that reflect our mission and amplify our reach. You’ll have the chance to lead diverse projects, share inspiring stories, and implement digital strategies that leave a lasting impact on Eugene’s business landscape.

Your Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications (30%)

  • Write clear, compelling content to amplify the Chamber’s mission, engaging a wide range of audiences.
  • Manage email newsletters, social media platforms, and website updates to ensure timely and consistent messaging.
  • Collaborate with the team to produce digital and print communications that align with our mission and resonate with our community.

Digital Marketing & Social Media (25%)

  • Drive social media strategy and content creation, building meaningful connections with members and the public.
  • Design and maintain content calendars that ensure consistent and engaging outreach.
  • Use analytics to evaluate campaign performance and optimize strategies for greater impact.

Advertising & Promotion (30%)

  • Support advertising efforts by cultivating partnerships, identifying new revenue opportunities, and managing current relationships.
  • Process insertion orders and invoices with attention to detail to ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Assist in creating and implementing targeted marketing campaigns to promote events, programs, and key initiatives.

Event Marketing & Collaboration (15%)

  • Develop innovative marketing strategies for our robust calendar of events, from small gatherings to large-scale initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to align marketing efforts with organizational goals, maximizing attendance and engagement.

  • Provide hands-on support at events, ensuring seamless execution and a polished brand presence.

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with tools like Google Suite, Canva, and project management software (Asana, Trello, Monday, etc.).
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with a talent for crafting content that inspires and informs.
  • Experience in social media management and executing digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility to attend occasional events outside regular hours.

Preferred Skills:

  • Passion for community engagement, small business success, and economic development.

  • Familiarity with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or CRM databases.

  • Creative talent for photography, videography, or graphic design.

  • Experience with website management platforms (e.g., WordPress) or basic HTML knowledge.
