Frederik-Wilhelm Schmitz started their work experience in 2011 as a Workshop Training at BOMBARDIER. In 2014, they completed an Internship in Predevelopment Powertrain at Porsche. In 2017, they joined Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd. as a Development Engineer Combustion.

Frederik-Wilhelm Schmitz began their education at Upper Canada College from 2008 to 2009. Frederik-Wilhelm then attended Lessing Gymnasium Frankfurt and obtained their Abitur degree from 2002 to 2011. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Maschinenbau/Mechanical Engineering at ETH Zürich from 2011 to 2014. Schmitz continued their education at ETH Zürich, completing their Master of Science (MSc) in Maschinenbau/Mechanical Engineering from 2015 to 2017. In 2015, they also briefly attended Mines Paris, although the degree obtained and field of study for this period are unknown.
