Malika Magagula

Malika Magagula is Winrock’s, Chief Operating Officer. Magagula has strong programmatic, management, and operational skills that are complemented by a financial and systems background. Before joining Winrock, she worked at ACDI/VOCA for four years where she was vice president of quality and compliance. In this role, Magagula implemented a field-focused, integrated approach in the provision of support services to projects. She managed several departments, including the regional technical support network, monitoring and evaluation, regional compliance, operations support services, and awards management. Prior to her work at ACDI/VOCA, Magagula was Pact’s country director in South Africa for nine years. In this position, she managed a $260 million USAID-funded HIV and AIDS grant management and capacity development project in South Africa and satellite offices, implementing similar programs in Swaziland, Lesotho, and Botswana. Magagula was also deputy chief of the party for an institutional capacity-building project in the democracy and governance sector for Creative Associates in South Africa. Prior to this, she held the position of supervisory financial management officer with USAID in Swaziland for six years. Magagula has conducted numerous short-term assignments and technical support visits to more than 20 countries in Africa and Asia. Magagula, who is an Ethiopian/American, has a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona and a bachelor’s degree in international business from Western Michigan University.
