Business Development Manager

Business Development · Full-time · San Francisco, United States

Job description

At Wisetack, we’re building financially-responsible consumer lending products that help service-based businesses thrive.

Founded in 2018 by a team of experienced fintech veterans whose prior experience includes PayPal, LinkedIn, Lending Club, Affirm, Amazon, and other leading companies, Wisetack is a well-funded early stage startup with strong early customer traction. We’re backed by leading VCs, including Insight Partners, Greylock, and Bain Capital Ventures, (investors in Airbnb, LinkedIn, Instagram, Dropbox, and many more.)

We raised a $45M Series B last year and since then, we've invested in our people and technology and signed a slew of new partnerships. This is a fun stage in any company's lifecycle where we've got the core foundation built, a healthy growth rate, and a clear path to success, but you'd still be joining early enough to help shape the future of the company.

Business Insider called us one of the 70 most promising startups changing the world of finance, LendIt selected us as this year's winner in the Best Emerging Lending Platform category for their Fintech Industry Awards, and we were just named to the inaugural SMBTech 50 list (perhaps you saw us on the billboard in Times Square?) The external recognition is great, but we're equally -- if not more -- happy with the recognition from our customers. Our current NPS rating is a sky-high 78. We're proud that we're building a product that customers love.

The role

We’re looking for someone to join our team to focus on building partnerships with software platforms that will leverage our API-first solution to generate transaction-based revenue for both the partners and Wisetack.

We 10x'd our revenue last year, and this person will be instrumental in continuing that trajectory. This is a great role for someone who wants a high-leverage, revenue-generating role at a high-growth company, with potential to define company strategy and potentially get some management experience if they’re successful.

This will be a critical role that drives our growth in 2022 and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and engaging with high-value target partners.
  • Product management: define the implementations for new partners, optimizing them to drive loan volume for Wisetack, and provide compelling business results for partners.
  • Define economic structures for new partners that align incentives and drive results.
  • Project-manage internally with supporting teams, including product management, finance, analytics, legal, and customer success.
  • Ensure excellent service and communication from Wisetack to our partners; ensure excellent representation of our partners to internal Wisetack stakeholders.
  • Influence selling, messaging, and positioning strategy and help define company-level goals for new deal signings, launches, and loan volume.
  • Negotiating contracts and setting partners up for success as they start integrating.

Experience

  • 4+ years, at least 2 of which are in sales, business development, partnerships, or product management (level will be calibrated to the candidate)
  • Experience with field service software, invoicing software, or point of sale lending/payments is a plus.
  • If you meet some of the criteria but not all, we encourage you to apply. As a startup, we have some flexibility and will shape the role to the right candidate.

This role is best for someone who can take inputs and business goals from multiple areas (our internal goals; partner goals; merchant goals) and design an optimal solution.

The right candidate will be intellectually curious, hardworking, self-starting, customer-oriented, and will always prioritize integrity over short term results.
