We are looking for a Systems Test Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for designing, assembling, and commissioning test assets of our next generation Electrical VTOL aircraft Energy Storage and Power Systems (ESPS).  

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain View office.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of battery component and system level test campaigns, including performance, thermal, environmental, end-of-line acceptance, and certification testing
  • Work closely with a cross functional team to develop test requirements and test plans
  • Write test specifications, operation manuals and test procedures
  • Review schematics and datasheets of various electrical components and hardware on the battery pack from internal teams and external vendors
  • Design mechanical and electrical test fixtures used for PCBA and component level power electronics and battery testing
  • Create 3D CAD models and release 2D mechanical design drawings using NX
  • Develop wiring diagrams and create harness drawings
  • Select and integrate transducers and data acquisition devices into test assets
  • Develop test automation software/programs/scripts on LabVIEW and Python
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical and software issues on the test assets
  • Lead environmental qualification test campaigns at internal and external test labs

Requirements:

  • B.S. with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience or M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Hands-on experience designing and assembling tests assets or stations for entirely new hardware
  • Proficiency with CAD software (NX preferred)
  • Familiar with drafting standards, including GD&T, and can interpret or create engineering drawings
  • Experience with data acquisition devices (NI, SCADAS, Keysight) and transducers

Desired:

  • Experience working with high voltage electrical systems
  • Knowledge of batteries, battery management systems and power electronics
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW
  • Familiarity with aviation test standards including DO-311, DO-160 and MIL-810
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Hands on experience with machine shop equipment
  • Experience working with I2C, SPI and FCB protocol
  • Experience with executing abuse tests on Li-ion batteries
  • Experience with using battery cyclers
  • Experience with working with facility upgrades
