Joe Olivas

Joe Olivas has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of quality assurance, particularly in the gaming and virtual reality industries.

Starting in 2000, they worked as a QA tester at Crave Entertainment, where they were involved in functionality and certification testing for console and handheld devices. Joe also collaborated with development teams at offsite locations to meet submission deadlines.

In 2002, they joined Vivendi as a senior certification supervisor. Joe began as a QA functionality tester and certification tester for console games, eventually earning promotions to certification lead for Xbox console games and senior certification supervisor for all three console systems. Joe'srole included working closely with development teams to ensure compliance with certification processes.

Moving forward, in 2011, Joe became a QA supervisor at Konami Digital Entertainment, overseeing functionality and localization teams for console, mobile, and PC platforms. Joe managed resource planning, employee development, training, and hour tracking.

From 2014 to 2017, they joined Kabam as a central QA manager, where they managed worldwide QA teams for mobile platform games. Joe was responsible for functionality, compliance, certification, and localization, contributing to the establishment of a centralized QA department.

Next, from 2017 to 2019, they served as a senior manager of QA and deployment at Scopely. Joe led a growing mobile QA and deployment program, collaborating with multiple disciplines such as functionality QA, dev QA, localization, build distribution, and submissions. Joe also nurtured a team of project owners and fostered strong communication with internal and external development, QA, and localization partners.

In 2019, they held the position of head of quality assurance at both Supernatural and Within (VR/AR). In these roles, they project managed and led the growing VR/AR QA and deployment departments, overseeing functionality QA, certification, build distribution, and submissions. Joe also took charge of cost-effective planning, resource and budget management, and the implementation of metrics and project management methodologies.

Most recently, starting in 2023, Joe Olivas has been appointed as the lead QA at Meta. Further details regarding their work at this company are not provided.

Joe Olivas, CSM, has an Associate's Degree in Fine and Studio Arts from El Camino College. Joe also holds an Associate's Degree in French Pastry Arts from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts-Pasadena. In addition, they obtained a certification in CHRC from BadgeCert in July 2018.
