Barbara Dean MPAS, PA-C has a diverse work experience. Barbara started their career in 2009 as a Physician Assistant at Dr. CAREing, where they worked until 2012. From 2012 to 2018, they worked at Appalachian Regional Healthcare System as a Physician Assistant, specializing in medical oncology and hematology. During their time there, they developed the survivorship program and integrative medicine program and led various wellness initiatives. In 2015, they briefly worked as a Regional Education Coordinator at the Wake Forest Physician Assistant Program. From 2016, Barbara co-owned Boone Fly Fishing, LLC, a family-owned fly fishing guide service. In 2021, they joined Flatiron Health as a Data Abstractor and later worked as a Freelance Medical Content Marketer and Writer at BD Medical Writing. Barbara obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant from the Rochester Institute of Technology, which they pursued from 1997 to 2001. Later, in 2004 and 2005, they pursued a Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
