Nick de Kleijn

Nick de Kleijn has a diverse work experience in the field of frontend development. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a freelance web designer and developer under the name NDK Media Design, taking on projects for regional TV programs and local businesses. In 2011, they also did an internship at CCCP in the role of Stagiair Communicatie en Multimediadesign.

In 2013, Nick worked as an Afstudeer stagiair at Tam Tam, where they focused on the topic of Gamification and how to engage customers in energy-saving through digital media. The role involved extensive research on psychological studies, Gamification, and other motivation methods.

From 2014 to 2015, Nick worked as a Frontend Developer at Internetbureau Cream, specializing in e-commerce webshops built on the Magento platform. Nick'sresponsibilities were mainly in front-end development.

From 2015 to 2022, Nick worked at Reach Digital, first as a Magento Frontend Developer, where they worked on various tasks including setting up webshops, providing support, and optimizing performance and user experience. Later on, they transitioned to the role of Lead Frontend Developer, where they focused on guiding and unblocking junior developers, as well as mentoring new hires and introducing them to the company's techniques and systems.

Currently, Nick works as a Lead Frontend Developer at Withthegrid, a role they started in 2022.

Nick de Kleijn pursued their education at various institutions. From 2005 to 2009, they attended ROC Zadkine, where they obtained a degree in System Administration with a focus on IT. Following this, they enrolled at Hogeschool Rotterdam from 2009 to 2013, earning a Bachelor's degree in Media Information and Communication with a specialization in Communication and Multimedia Design. In addition to their formal education, Nick also acquired additional certifications. In June 2015, they became a Magento Certified Frontend Developer through Magento, and in May 2013, they obtained a certification in Gamification from Coursera Verified Certificates.
