Désirée Lichtenstein

Co-founder And Honorary Board Member at Women in Global Health

Désirée Lichtenstein is a Doctoral Student at Karolinska Institutet, focusing on a PhD project that investigates barriers and facilitators to reproductive autonomy and health equity for women and girls. Currently serving as Deputy Head of Unit for the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights unit at Region Stockholm, Désirée also holds the position of Resident Doctor in Public Health/Community Medicine, emphasizing health equity and the welfare of marginalized groups. As a board member of RFSU and a co-founder of Women in Global Health, Désirée actively promotes sexual and reproductive health and rights both locally and internationally. Previous experiences include roles at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) as a Sexual and Reproductive Health Specialist and working as a Medical Supervisor for Women on Web, among other positions in healthcare and public health. Educational background includes a Master of Science in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a medical degree from Karolinska Institutet.
