Vice President, Design Operations at WONGDOODY

Karen Totten has a diverse work experience spanning across different industries. Karen is currently serving as the Vice President of Design Operations at WONGDOODY since June 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Principal of Experience Design at Infosys Digital from September 2015 to June 2022.

Karen has also worked as a Senior Experience Design Strategist at GE Healthcare | UPMC Enterprises (LG Consultant) from May 2015 to September 2015. In this role, they provided leadership and strategy for visual, interaction, and UX design, as well as engaged cross-functional teams.

Before that, Karen held the position of Experience Design Lead/Strategist at Lexmark International from 2008 to 2013. Their responsibilities included directing UX/UI design and strategy for embedded systems products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer goals.

Karen gained experience in global visual UI design strategy as a Global Visual UI Design Strategist at Xerox Corporation from 1998 to 2008. Karen collaborated with various teams to develop user-centered designs across global product fleet.

Karen started their career as an Editorial Illustrator in 1991 and later transitioned to work as a Senior Architectural Designer as an independent contractor from 1985 to 1993, where they led architectural projects and created designs and renderings.

Additionally, they worked as an Art Director and Multimedia Designer at SIGMA Marketing Insights from 1993 to 1998, where they were involved in creative marketing and advertising design for various media platforms.

Throughout their career, Karen has demonstrated expertise in design strategy, leadership, and collaboration, specializing in user experience and interface design.

Karen Totten completed their education from 1978 to 1980 at Boston University, where they studied Art History, Criticism, and Conservation. Karen then attended the Rochester Institute of Technology from 1983 to 1985 and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Industrial/Environmental Design. Later, from 1995 to 1997, they pursued a Master's degree in Interactive Multimedia Development also at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
