Chris Hutchinson, PE has a diverse range of work experience in the engineering field spanning over several decades. Chris has held various roles in different companies, allowing him to gain expertise in different areas of engineering.
Starting their career in 1993 as a Product Engineer at Sanden International, Chris then moved on to work at Weatherford as a Senior R&D Engineer, where they were responsible for product development and awarded three patents for downhole milling technology.
In 1996, Chris joined Varco Shaffer as a Principal Engineer, where they supervised a team and was responsible for subsea blowout preventer stack engineering. During their time at Varco Shaffer, Chris was responsible for 20 subsea and surface blowout preventer stack systems.
In 2002, Chris worked at ABB Vetco Gray as an R&D Group Leader before joining SBM Offshore Houston in 2003. At SBM Offshore, they served as a Lead Project Engineer, leading the engineering and installation of the tendon system for the BHP Billiton Neptune TLP and Pappa Terra dry tree TLP projects. Chris also assisted in the specifications for production and drilling riser systems.
From 2010 to 2011, Chris worked as a Project Manager at Wison Floating Systems, Inc. Chris'sresponsibilities included managing the coordination of installation activities for the Browse Dry Tree TLP pre-FEED, supporting the top tension riser system development, and working on proposals for FPSO conversion and suction pile proposals.
From 2012 to 2020, Chris worked at INTECSEA as an Executive Engineer, Floating Systems. Chris was extensively involved in various projects, including the North Platte semi-submersible FPU FEED, Hess Stampede tendon system engineering and installation support, and MODEC tendon system delivery team for the tendons and TLP.
Chris then joined McDermott International, Ltd in 2021 as the Mooring Package Manager for BHP Trion project. Following that, they worked at Hutch Consulting, LLC as a Principal Consulting Engineer.
Currently, Chris is employed at Woodside Energy, where they hold the position of Mooring and Installation Lead for the Trion project.
