Jens Schmieder

Jens Schmieder is a seasoned Principal Biostratigrapher and Geologist at Woodside Energy since June 2022, with a robust background in geoscience spanning over two decades. Prior experience includes roles at BHP, where Jens served as Principal I Geologist focusing on Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean exploration, as well as leading biostratigraphic projects. Jens also held positions as a micropaleontologist at Paleo-Data and contributed to academic environments as a research and teaching assistant at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Jens obtained a PhD in Geology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and an MSc in Geology from the University of Tübingen, further enriching expertise with an exchange program focused on Geology and Paleontology at Northern Arizona University.
