Ihrp-Sp Choon Yen Khoo

Choon Yen KHOO has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. They started their career as a Contract Teacher at River Valley High School in 2009. They then interned at the Ministry Of Culture, Youth, and Community Development in 2011, where they reviewed the Targeted Parenting Education Scheme and coordinated outreach efforts.

In 2012, Choon Yen joined the Asia Research Institute (ARI) as a Research Assistant. They worked on various projects related to migration, collecting and analyzing data, and producing research papers and policy briefs. They were promoted to the position of Research Associate in 2018 and contributed to the qualitative fieldwork for the Child Health and Migrant Parents in South-East Asia (CHAMPSEA) project.

From 2017, Choon Yen transitioned into the corporate sector and joined Workato. They held several positions, including Operations Manager and Senior Manager, People Operations, where they managed office operations, talent acquisition, and implemented HR workflow automation projects to increase productivity. They later became the Head of People Operations and People Systems, APJ, and then the Director of Global People Operations and Technology, overseeing global people operations and technology initiatives.

Throughout their career, Choon Yen demonstrated strong leadership skills, implemented business continuity plans, developed employee wellness programs, and automated HR processes. They also established partnerships with educational institutions for talent acquisition and contributed to research publications in the field of migration.

Choon Yen Khoo, IHRP-SP, completed a Master of Social Sciences (Research) degree in Geography from the National University of Singapore from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, Choon Yen earned a Bachelor of Social Sciences (B.Soc.Sci.) With Honours degree in Sociology from the National University of Singapore. Choon Yen also participated in a Student Exchange Programme in Sociology at The University of Manchester. Additionally, Choon Yen attended a Summer Programme at Sanata Dharma University, focusing on Indonesian Language and Culture. Choon Yen completed secondary education at Hwa Chong Institution (College Section) and attended River Valley High School. Choon Yen has also obtained various certifications, including the IHRP Senior Professional (IHRP SP) certification from the Institute for Human Resource Professionals, and certifications in enterprise automation, community building, change management, and agile project management.
