For Shraddha Balasubramaniam, interior design is about evoking a sensory experience. A longtime performing artist of traditional Indian music and dance, Shraddha is keen on outward expressions of feeling, which she has further translated into a career in design. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication at the University of Madras in her native Chennai, India, Shraddha began a career as a graphic designer before pivoting to interiors in 2008. Later, she came to New York City to pursue an MFA in Interior Design from NYSID, graduating in 2015 and jumping into practice at ODA. Following roles at Yabu Pushelberg and later Studio Munge in Toronto, she returned to New York to join the Workshop/APD team. A thoughtful storyteller, Shraddha understands how to get to the core of human needs and desires, curating spaces that enable clients to connect with themselves.
