Matthew Hughes

Matthew Hughes serves as the President and CEO of the World Affairs Councils of America since January 2023. Previously, Matthew held the position of Executive Director at the International Relations Council from July 2016 to January 2023, where contributions included enhancing Kansas City's global awareness and facilitating discussions on world events and issues. Prior experience includes managing Global Education Programs at People to People International and serving as Clinical Faculty at the University of Notre Dame, as well as teaching at Immaculate Conception School and Resurrection Catholic School. Matthew's educational credentials include multiple advanced degrees from the University of Notre Dame, The University of Kansas, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, focusing on education, global studies, nonprofit management, and theology.
