Anna Thorson

Anna Thorson serves as the Head of the Research Capacity Strengthening Unit at the World Health Organization's TDR program since January 2016. With extensive expertise in global infectious disease epidemiology and sexual and reproductive health, Anna Thorson has held various leadership roles, including Professor at Karolinska Institutet and Unit Head at HRP Research. Contributions include strategic leadership in international research collaborations and active engagement in public health initiatives aimed at HIV, STIs, and maternal health. Notably, Anna Thorson has been involved in extensive research efforts in multiple countries, including Vietnam and South Africa, while also providing advisory services to WHO and various health organizations. Anna Thorson holds a Ph.D. in Global Public Health from Karolinska Institutet and has a robust academic background in medicine and public health.
