Bruce Plotkin

Team Leader (acting), International Health Regulations Secretariat at World Health Organization

Bruce Plotkin is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in health and international law. Since June 2006, Bruce Plotkin has served as a Senior Technical Officer (Legal) and Senior Legal Advisor at the World Health Organization, where responsibilities have included acting as Team Leader for the International Health Regulations Secretariat. Prior to this role, Bruce Plotkin worked as an International Legal Advisor and Consultant from June 1998 to June 2006, providing senior outside legal advice to the WHO on the revision and implementation of the International Health Regulations and on international trade law relating to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. Educational qualifications include a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Law of Sustainable International Development from the University of Washington School of Law, a J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Indiana University Bloomington.
