Michel Jean

Michel Jean is an accomplished professional in meteorology and environmental prediction, currently serving as President of the Commission for Basic Systems at the World Meteorological Organization since November 2016. With extensive experience at Environment Canada since May 2004, Michel has held various leadership roles, including Director General of the Canadian Centre for Meteorological and Environmental Prediction and Director of the National Operations at the Canadian Meteorological Centre. Michel’s previous work with the WMO CBS Management Group included responsibilities as Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator and GEO Coordinator. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Meteorology from McGill University and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from UQAM.
