Akshaya Venkataraman has a diverse work experience, starting with an ongoing role as a Junior Legal Officer at the World Trade Organization since January 2023. Previously, they worked as a Legal Intern at the World Trade Organization from June 2022 to November 2022. Akshaya also gained experience as a Legal Intern at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP from March 2022 to May 2022. Akshaya served as a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Trade and Investment Law from July 2019 to August 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Associate at Trilegal from July 2017 to May 2019, primarily focusing on researching and advising on regulatory issues related to foreign investments in India. Akshaya also had internships at Oval Observer Foundation, Trilegal, Chambers of Mr. Anirudh Wadhwa, and Jayakar & Partners, where they gained experience in various legal research and drafting tasks.
Akshaya Venkataraman obtained a Certificate of Practice from the BCI - Bar Council of India in September 2017. In terms of education, they completed their high school degree in Humanities at Delhi Public School - R. K. Puram from 2010 to 2012. They then pursued a B.A L.LB (Hons) degree in Law at West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences from 2012 to 2017. Lastly, in 2021, Akshaya enrolled at the Geneva Graduate Institute to pursue a Master of Laws - LLM degree with a focus on International Law.
