Derek D. Johnson

Derek D. Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and roles. Derek D. recently worked as a Senior Instructor at RNWBL Training since July 2022. Prior to that, they served as a Training Specialist at E.ON starting from September 2017. Derek D. also held the position of Corporate Technical Trainer at World Wind & Solar from May 2016. From November 2010 to July 2016, Derek worked as a Wind Energy Technology Instructor at Redstone College, where they were responsible for managing program-related functions and promoting student success. Derek D. also has experience as a Wind Technician at System One Holdings, LLC from 2014 to 2015 and as an Adjunct Instructor at Ecotech Institute from 2013 to 2014. Before transitioning to the renewable energy industry, Derek worked as a Master Technician at Nordex from February 2009 to June 2010. Derek D. started their career in the US Navy as a Gas Turbine Systems technician from 1992 to 2000, where they coordinated maintenance and repair operations on gas turbine engines and auxiliary systems. Additionally, Derek has extensive experience with wind turbine operations, maintenance, and repair through their role as a Wind Energy Commissioning/O&M Technician at Granite Services from 2005 to 2008.

Derek D. Johnson has a diverse education history. In 2000-2001, they attended ITT Technical Institute, where they obtained an AAS degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. In addition, in 1992 they attended Naval Station Great Lakes, although the degree name is unknown, they focused on Gas Turbine System Technician.

Furthermore, Derek has obtained several additional certifications. In April 2019, they completed courses such as "Instructional Design: Adult Learners," "PowerPoint Essential Training (Office 365)," "PowerPoint: Designing Better Slides," and "Teaching Techniques: Writing Effective Learning Objectives." In March 2019, Derek completed courses including "Adobe Captivate Essential Training," "Captivate Draft: Storyboarding," "Elearning Techniques: Visual Design," and "Teaching Techniques: Developing Curriculum." Prior to these certifications, in October 2017, they completed the "Public Speaking Foundations" course.
