Albert Wu

Senior Motion Planning Software Engineer at Woven Planet Holdings

Albert Wu has extensive work experience in the field of autonomous driving. Albert is currently working as a Senior motion planning software engineer at Woven Planet since June 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Aurora Innovation from May 2020 to September 2022, where they were involved in various projects including refining lane-change decisions using ML techniques, evaluating competing constraints for ranking maneuvers, and analyzing collision avoidance strategies. Before Aurora Innovation, Albert worked at WeRide (formerly JingChi.ai) as a Senior Autonomous Driving Engineer from April 2018 to May 2022, where they led the formulation and implementation of a generalized, constrained-optimization-based longitudinal planner. Albert also worked at NIO as a Senior Autonomous Driving Engineer from March 2017 to April 2018, where they developed and tested motion planning and control algorithms for autonomous driving, and led the development of longitudinal planning and autonomous lane change algorithms.

Albert Wu completed their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Caltech from 2005 to 2009. Albert then pursued a Master's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2011. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University, where they studied from 2011 to 2017.
