Brian Hilnbrand has a diverse range of work experience in software engineering roles. Brian is currently employed as a Senior Software Engineer at Woven by Toyota. Prior to this, they worked at Matternet Inc as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on aircraft software. Before that, Brian was a Software Engineer at Wisk, where they led simulation feature development and integration, improved and integrated a flight abort simulation tool, and designed a sensor fault injection API. Brian also worked at Samsung Electronics as a Senior Software Engineer, developing and integrating self-driving vehicle platform applications and tools. Brian gained experience as a Software Engineer at Aptiv / Delphi Labs, where they developed demonstrations of automated vehicle technologies, ingested and verified high-definition maps, and created an HD map generation tool. Brian started their career as an Intern at Intervise, before taking on roles as a Computer Systems and Communications Team Leader at BOLT at Virginia Tech, and as a System Engineering Co-op at Harris Corporation. Throughout their career, Brian has demonstrated proficiency in programming, system design, and project management.
Brian Hilnbrand completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer Engineering from Virginia Tech, from the year 2010 to 2015. Brian then pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Software Engineering from Santa Clara University, from 2018 to 2021.
In addition to their formal education, Brian has also obtained certifications. In December 2018, they became certified as an ISO 26262 Functional Safety Engineer from TÜV SüD.
