Florin B. has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Florin started their career as a Software Engineer at Laser 5 LTD., where they worked on a network-enabled multi-functional printer project. Florin then moved on to Volkswagen Group Japan, where they held various roles in research engineering and project leading. Florin conducted research in areas like open-source automotive multimedia software, human-machine interface, software algorithms for electric vehicle fleet optimization, and lithium-ion battery testing. In 2016, Florin joined Volkswagen AG as a Project Manager in the Driver Assistance and Integrated Safety division. Here, they focused on the application of neural networks and deep reinforced learning in autonomous driving and integrated safety algorithms. Florin also developed and deployed neural network virtual training systems and applied reinforcement learning-based neural networks in pre-crash activation of safety measures. In 2019, Florin transitioned to Toyota Research Institute - Advanced Development, where they led the Engineering AreneOS team and served as the Chief Product Owner Guardian. Currently, Florin is working as the Head of Research Liaison at Woven by Toyota.
