Gyanendra Sharma has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Gyanendra started their career as a Researcher/Intern with Humanitarian free and open source software (HFOSS) in 2012. Gyanendra then worked as a Web/Video Intern at Connecticut College in 2010 and as a Research and Computer Science Supervisor/Math Tutor from 2009 to 2013. During their time at Connecticut College, they also co-authored a paper that was accepted for a poster at the International Society for Music Information Retrieval (ISMIR) conference.

In 2013, Gyanendra joined Revenue Solutions, Inc. as an Associate Consultant before moving on to an Internship at IBM in 2016. At IBM, they worked on the design and implementation of augmented reality experiences and also conducted image processing on jewelry images.

Gyanendra's next role was as an Advisor at Reboot.ai from 2018 to 2019 before joining Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as a Research Assistant. At Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, they developed and validated multi-modal spatial interaction designs and designed human subject experiments.

In 2019, Gyanendra became a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Northeastern University, where they worked until 2020. Gyanendra then worked at Toyota Research Institute as part of their Simulation Operations team from 2021 to 2022 and later transitioned to the role of Human Machine Interface (HMI) Researcher.

Currently, Gyanendra works at Woven Planet Holdings as an HMI Researcher, where they are responsible for designing, prototyping, and validating Human Machine Interfaces for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) through user studies. Gyanendra also conducts psychophysics-based user studies to obtain metrics related to human perception in driving interfaces.

In 2023, Gyanendra will join Audi of America as a Senior HMI Researcher.

Gyanendra Sharma obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 2014 and 2018. Before that, they completed their undergraduate studies at Connecticut College from 2009 to 2013, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Computer Science and Mathematics. Prior to their college education, they attended Budhanilkantha School from 2006 to 2008, where they completed their High School education with a focus on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

In addition to their formal education, Gyanendra Sharma obtained certification in IBM Blockchain Essentials V2 from IBM in March 2020.
