Carrie Rickey

Carrie Rickey is an accomplished author and film critic with extensive experience in film scholarship and criticism. Currently, Rickey is working on the forthcoming book "A Complicated Passion: The Life and Work of Agnes Varda," set to be published by W. W. Norton & Company, Inc. in 2024. Rickey has been a movie critic for truthdig.com since 2015 and contributed as a freelance writer for Yahoo! Movies and The New York Times, where a diverse range of articles on film and books were produced. With a background in documentary production as an independent film professional, Rickey produced the critically acclaimed "Before Hollywood," which won a Mid-Atlantic Emmy. Academic experience includes various teaching roles at the University of Pennsylvania and other institutions. Rickey holds an MFA in Film History and Criticism and a BA in English and Film Studies from UC San Diego.
