Valeria Lacatena

Principal Engineer Process Development And Integration at X Fab Silicon Foundries EV

Valeria Lacatena has an extensive work experience in the field of microelectronics engineering. Valeria started their career in 2010 as an intern at Politecnico di Torino, where they worked as a materials engineer and a teaching assistant. In 2011, they interned at Universidad Politénica de Valencia, focusing on biophotonics engineering. Valeria then joined Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2012 as an intern in nanofabrication and optoelectronics engineering.

In 2012, Valeria embarked on their Ph.D. journey at STMicroelectronics, specializing in micro and nanotechnologies, acoustic, and telecommunications. Upon completing their Ph.D. in 2015, they moved on to work as a research fellow and microelectronics engineer at ISEN. Here, they were involved in the UPTEG project, which aimed to improve the efficiency of silicon-based thermoelectric converters.

Valeria then joined CNRS in 2016 as a research and development engineer, focusing on the process development and integration of MEMS in GaN on Si for various applications.

Since 2018, Valeria Lacatena has been working at X-FAB, starting as a process development engineer and then progressing to senior and staff roles. In their recent role as principal engineer, they are responsible for process development and integration, customer project leadership, and tapeout coordination.

Overall, Valeria has showcased expertise in BEOL integration, technology transfer, experimental design, and collaboration with various teams and institutes.

Valeria Lacatena holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010. Valeria then pursued a Master's Degree in Nanotechnology for Integrated Systems at Politecnico di Torino from 2010 to 2011. In 2011, they attended Grenoble INP - UGA for a Master's Degree in Micro and Nanotechnologies for Integrated Systems. Valeria also obtained a Master's Degree in Microelectronic, Génie électrique et électronique from EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) in 2012. Valeria went on to complete their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Micro and Nanotechnologies, Acoustic and Telecommunications from the University of Lille 1 Sciences and Technology, which they obtained from 2012 to 2015.

In terms of additional certifications, Valeria Lacatena has obtained a certification in Project Planning Management from the Project Management Institute in 2023. In 2021, they also obtained the Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP®) certification from APMG International. Specific months for when these certifications were obtained were not provided.
