Stefan Hecht

Stefan Hecht has extensive work experience in the field of chemistry and materials science. Stefan is currently serving as the Einstein Professor in the Laboratory of Organic Chemistry and Functional Materials at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where they are also the Founding Director of the Center for the Science of Materials Berlin. Prior to this, they co-founded xolo GmbH in 2019. Stefan has also worked as an Associate Editor for The Journal of Organic Chemistry at the American Chemical Society starting in 2018. Stefan Hecht has held positions as the Scientific Director at DWI - Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials and as a Full Professor and Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University from 2019 to 2022. Stefan was previously a Full Professor and Chair of Organic Chemistry and Functional Materials at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from 2006 to 2019. Stefan has also worked as a Group Leader at Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung and as a Junior Group Leader at Freie Universität Berlin.

Stefan Hecht completed their education in Chemistry, achieving a Diplom degree from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin between the years 1992 and 1997. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Organic Polymer Chemistry from 1997 to 2001.
