Adam Shelly has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and firmware development. Adam started their career at Lockheed Martin as a Software Engineer in 1996. Adam then worked at United Defense, LP as an Engineering Manager, where they led a project for the Grizzly armored vehicle. Adam joined Staccato Systems as a Technology Evangelist, providing customer support and driving product evolution based on customer feedback. At Analog Devices, they served as a Lead Software Engineer, leading the development of software tools for audio engineers. Adam later joined Aerojet as a Senior Software Engineer, where they developed hard real-time embedded flight control software for rocket motors. At Bloomberg, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer, before joining KeyMe as a Software Architect and Robot Wrangler, leading the team in creating fully automated key cutting kiosks. Adam then worked at Coin, Inc. as a Lead Firmware Engineer, implementing firmware solutions for the next generation Coin card. At Anki, they served as a Senior Robotics Firmware Engineer, responsible for various embedded hardware projects. Currently, they are serving as a Software Architect at Xwing.

Adam Shelly completed their Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Boston University, from 1988 to 1993. Adam then pursued further education in Computational Biology at Stanford University in 2004.
