Basmah Safdar, MD, FACEP, is an accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in emergency medicine and cardiovascular health. Currently serving as Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs & Development at Yale University School of Medicine since April 2022, Basmah has also held significant roles at Yale New Haven Hospital as Co-Chair of the Heart and Vascular Chest Pain Center since February 2010 and as Medical Director of the Chest Pain Center at Yale University since September 2004. In addition, Basmah was a Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine® Fellow at Drexel University from May 2023 to April 2024, and served as President of the Academy for Women in Academic Emergency Medicine from 2015 to 2016. Previous leadership included Medical Director of the Yale Women's Heart Program from June 2008 to May 2013. Education includes an M.Sc in Cardiovascular Epidemiology from Harvard University and FACEP in Emergency Medicine from Yale University, alongside an M.B;B.S from Aga Khan University.
