Accounts Clerk - Payables

Job description

Prepare periodic cheque payments to suppliers in accordance with approved invoices submitted through the regional offices and assist with collections as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BSc. Accounting or Finance from a recognized institution.

  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in the role.

  • CAT lever 2 or its equivalent

  • Experience in the use of SAGE.

SPECIALISED SKILLS, TECHNICALS/LEARNED DISCIPLINE:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Good analytical skills and must be able to work well under pressure.

  • Experience in the use of computerized accounting systems

  • Keen eye for details

  • Good planning and organizational skills.

  • Accuracy and meticulousness in performing duties.

  • Collaborative team-oriented individual and must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays as required.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume, dynamic environment.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Must work to schedule and meet deadlines.

  • Must be highly organized.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key AP vouchers into SAGE on a daily.
  • Prepare cheque payments and ensure electronic payments are made on a timely basis.
  • Copies paid cheques and collate them for filing. Ensures all payment documents are correctly filed on a daily.
  • Varies payments for the bank.
  • Assist the collections unit as necessary.
  • Ensures the timely preparation of assigned audit schedules.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB:

  • Normal office environnement. Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

  • May be required to work on weekends and or public holidays.

  • Working long hours to complete time-sensitive projects.

These responsibilities may be reviewed and updated from time to time to keep aligned with the company’s needs.
