James Walker

James Walker's work experience starts in 2006 as an Art Director at The Lawrence Group, where they worked until 2010. James then joined OBATA as a Brand Manager and Art Director from 2010 to 2011, overseeing the rebranding of a Fortune 500 company. In 2013, James started their own design company, James Walker Design, where they held the position of Design Director until 2023.

Alongside their entrepreneurial venture, James also worked as a Lecturer at Santa Reparata International School of Art (SRISA) in 2014 and then as a Lecturer at Washington University in St. Louis from 2013 to 2015.

James's academic career began in 2015 at The University of Texas at Austin. James held various positions within the design department, including Assistant Professor of Practice from 2015 to 2019, Associate Professor of Practice from 2019 to 2020, and Assistant Professor from 2020 to 2021. James also served as the graduate chair during their tenure.

Most recently, James joined YETI in 2021 as an Associate Creative Director in Brand Design and was promoted to Creative Director in 2023.

James Walker has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Communication Design from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. James also holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Visual Communication / Design from Virginia Commonwealth University, which they completed in 2013.
