Aaron Smith

Aaron Smith, PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of counseling and psychotherapy. Aaron is currently working as a Professor & Faculty Lead at Yorkville University since April 2023. Prior to this, they have served as an Adjunct Faculty at Yorkville University from March 2022 to May 2023. Aaron has also worked as a Psychotherapist and Mental Health Therapist at STAR Family Health Team since May 2019. Additionally, Aaron has held the position of Director and Research and Education Consultant at Social Education and Research Group since June 2019. Aaron has also worked as an Assistant Professor of Counseling at Tyndale University in an ongoing capacity since 2022. Aaron has previously worked as an Assistant Professor and Director of Field Education at Redeemer University from 2021 to 2022. Aaron has also volunteered as a Educator for Mental Health Without Borders from 2020 to 2022. Prior to their academic career, Aaron worked as a Registered Psychotherapist at Aaron Smith Counselling & Psychotherapy from 2009 to June 2019. Aaron has held the positions of Instructor at Renison University College from April 2017 to August 2021, and at King's University from September 2020 to December 2020. Aaron's experience also includes serving as an Assistant Professor and Program Director at Emmanuel Bible College from July 2011 to May 2019.

Aaron Smith, PhD obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University, completed from 2014 to 2021. Prior to that, they earned their Master of Arts degree in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy from the same institution between 2011 and 2013. Their educational journey also includes a Master of Theological Studies in Counselling, which they completed from 2007 to 2009, also at Wilfrid Laurier University. In addition to their academic achievements, Aaron Smith is a Registered Psychotherapist, certified by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario in 2015. Furthermore, they have obtained various online certifications in topics such as survey creation with Qualtrics, basic data analysis with Excel, exploratory data analysis, and an introduction to data analytics through Coursera, with completion expected in 2023.
