Ron Scott

Ron Scott is the Manager of the Young Adult Resource Center at Youth Opportunities Unlimited. Ron has been in this role since August of 2002. Prior to that, they were a Professor at Walsh University from August 2002 to August 2021. During their time at Walsh University, Ron was the Division Chair and/or Composition Coordinator from 2009-2021. Ron was also the Director of General Education from 2007-2008, and they were a multiple Teacher of the Year nominee and award winner. In addition, Ron led faculty in online learning and instructional design efforts, and they developed multiple workshops designed to facilitate faculty efforts to include technology and experiential learning in the classroom. Ron also served as the Lead Internship Coordinator, leading efforts to bring internship opportunities to students. Furthermore, Ron was the faculty liaison to the Diversity and Inclusion Council, and they mentored students emphasizing marketable skills. For these students, they created multiple events to assist them in resume development, networking, and skill assessment. Prior to their time at Walsh University, Ron was the AS/400 Project Manager at Insurance Automation Systems from January 1992 to December 1994. Before that, they were an Account Executive at Deloitte and Touche from January 1990 to December 1991. Ron began their career as a System Engineer at Electronic Data Systems from January 1985 to December 1990.

Ron Scott has a Ph.D. in English literature with a focus on rhetoric and composition from the University of Arizona. Ron also has a master's degree in English from Oregon State University and a bachelor of arts in English from the University of Michigan. In addition, they have certification from Coursera in Introduction to User Experience Principles and Processes, Capstone: Retrieving, Processing, and Visualizing Data with Python, Using Python to Access Web Data, and Instructional Design Foundations and Applications.

Their manager is Craig Dorn, President & CEO. They work with Brittany Atkinson - Senior Manager, Summer Youth Employment & Case Management Support Services, LarKesha Burns - Senior Manager, JOG, and Tobin Buckner - Director, Employer Partnerships & Training.
