The Role:

Yubico is  searching for an innovative, quick-learning, deadline-driven Mechanical Engineer to join our Hardware team. The Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities include improving existing mechanical systems, developing new product concepts and prototypes, designing and testing mechanical and electronic systems, and developing various automated systems.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance electro-mechanical systems and mechanical devices and fixtures
  • Improve efficiency and reliability of  existing production systems
  • Conduct research, document findings, and present reports at meetings. (i.e. MTBF reports)
  • Develop design documents for mechanical parts and final products. (Assembly Drawings, SOPs, Test Protocols )
  • Identify areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and make recommendations for improvement
  • Select the required tools and materials for the manufacturing processes
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, software)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes - Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance techniques, functional dimensioning and geometric tolerancing for high volume manufacturing
  • Understanding of precision fabrication methods
  • Sensor and motor interfacing experience

Basic Requirements:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering and 2-3 years of experience in the field
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and creative thinking skills
  • Familiarity with FMEAs
  • Solidworks or similar MCAD Proficient, some Altium or similar ECAD Experience
  • Python Experience
  • Be able to conduct Compliance & Regulatory testing on products designed
  • Knowledge of HMI and UX
  • Confluence, JIRA, Arena experience is a plus
